What could be the cause of?

Bumpa asked:
this burning sensation. Seems to be stress related. My mom’s friend has it. She’s 78 and has been through many losses/stress. It starts at the waist and goes up through the torso to the shoulders and upper arms. She says is feels like 2nd degree burns but gives no heat. Two people have died of cerebral hemorrhages in her family. I think it is caused from nerves…anyone ever hear of such a thing? Her primary care physician has no answer. Help, she is desperate and says it is dibilitaging. Thanks.
No…it is NOT shingles, there are no blisters or skin rashes…it is not dermatological in nature. It comes from within.
Question extended due to lack of response. Please help if you can.
It is not dermatological, shingles or diabetes. My guess is it may be endocrinological or neurological (hypothalamus)???

Sounds like it could be shingles, my aunt gets it sometimes.

I don’t know. I think she should go to a dermatologist. Primary care physicians are good, but the skin has so many things that can go wrong with it that a special skin doctor should evaluate her.
